We worked closely with Kaitlin Rogers to design this beautiful book rich in images of the countryside and the people of Tanzania. Well over 1,000 images were taken during this unique 400 mile bike ride to raise funds for orphans. We managed to select the best images (a very difficult task) to create this 200 page fundraising book for The Foundation for Tomorrow.

THE FOUNDATION FOR TOMORROW is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships for African orphans to attend boarding school in their home countries. As well as scholarships, The Foundation For Tomorrow (TFFT) aids and advances our partner schools and orphanages to ensure the highest quality of education is provided. This was a special edition book we designed specifically for artist Brian Ajhar to be showcased during the 2010 CTN Animation Expo. This is a collection of a handful of the numerous editorial, advertising and children's book projects he has worked on throughout his 30 year career.

These are some really wonderful images and it was a real pleasure to work on this book for Brian. To see more of his work, please visit his site at www.ajhar.com.

Weddings always bring out the best in people. Smiles, laughter, joy, and even tears - emotions that are captured with every wedding picture. And creating a book with those special images is always a pleasure for us.

We just finished a wedding book for newlyweds, Michelle & Anthony. Take a look at this Maryland couple's special day.

This was a really wonderful wedding album to create for the newlyweds - Donny and Patti. They got married on beautiful Miahaulepu Beach on Kauai, Hawaii. Our job was made easy because of the amazing photography taken by Ken Posney.

We designed this album on Patti's idea of telling a "fairy tale" story. So many of the pages have beautifully scripted pieces of her story, including the happy ending. Congratulations to Patti and Donny.

This a a corporate book we were asked to do for PWP Packaging With Perfection's President, Mr. Leon Farahnik. At the end of the month, Mr. Farahnik is retiring and they wanted to present him with this book commemorating his time with the company. The book features corporate events, key milestones, images of employees, heart-felt quotes and stories from clients and staff.

This is the final book in a FIVE-BOOK SERIES that we did for our client. Each one of the books in the series was designed to highlight the couple's yearly adventures, travels and achievements since they started dating.

This final book represents their first year as a married couple. We have enjoyed working with them over the last year and a half helping them to preserve their memories.

We wish them a very happy life together and hope we will continue to create more books for them in the future!

This was a cute little book we did for a friend and client of ours who wished to tell her family that she was pregnant with her first child. The story is told from the point of view of her dog, Diego. Our client ordered several books and wrapped them as presents to everyone in her family. At the end of the book, Diego announces that he is going to be a "big brother".

We congratulate our friend and client on her new baby and hope the book is a real hit over the holidays!

Lucy & Salvatore. What can we say? It's not often anymore we hear of people being married for 50 years, so it definitely deserved a book to celebrate the occasion. Lucy's nephew contacted us to create this book for them, as they wanted to present it to Salvatore in a few weeks, who was going to be celebrating his 75th birthday!

It was a small book, only about 30 pages, but each page is full of memories of their 50th Anniversary and their renewal of vows. We wish them many more happy years together! To view more images from the book, click here.

This was an absolutely amazing project to work on for one of our clients based in London. She is getting married in August and wanted to create a book - one book - to give her fiance as a wedding present. They met four years ago, like to travel and are known for taking a lot of pictures. She had OVER 1000 images for us to review and use for this project. This project originally started out as one book with 100 pages, but by the time we finished the project, we had four books. But, undeniably - four...beautiful books.

We even ended up being invited to the wedding! Unfortunately, we can't make it, but we are confident that there will definitely be a at least one picture taken of him receiving the books, and of course, we hope to work with them again on creating a WEDDING book after they get back from their honeymoon. We want to wish the very best to Hannah and Paul, a wonderful couple and a wonderful client.

I know, it's been quite some time since we last posted, but that's only because we've been so busy designing books. In fact, we've got another three books coming out very shortly!

Recently we completed this fabulous book on Artesano Iron Works. The gallery is located in Philadelphia and this book is a collection of images taken during an open-house event at the gallery.

The photography, taken by our client, an award-winning photographer, Gerard Tomko, features some contemporary pieces of the artist, Ricardo Cabrera installed at the Artesano Gallery. This was a soft cover 7 x 7 book with images of the artwork, the gallery, the lighting, flower arrangements and the delicious catering for the event. What a great idea! Everyone involved in the event can now use this book for promotional purposes.

We just finished a project working with our new client, Gerard Tomko. Mr. Tomko is an award-winning wedding photographer based out of Philadelphia. He's been in this profession for over 28 years and that definitely shows in his wonderful images. It was a great piece to create for him so that he can showcase his work during the Wedding & Portrait Photographers Convention in February.

Gerard Tomko is also a survivor, he battled and beat cancer this last year and is now back to work and creating wonderful images. We personally wish him well, much success and continued good health!

This was a wonderful book to work on, simply because it serves such a higher purpose. I was contacted by my client on behalf of the Metta Institute to create a book reflecting the journal writings of Mr. Frank Ostaseski. The founder of the Metta Institute, a teacher and a wonderful man who recently had several heart attacks and is now on the road to recovery. They plan to use the book as a gift to donors who attend the Journey of the Heart benefit for the Metta Institute in late September.

Although there was very little imagery, we worked with the text and used typography to call-out important or emotional points in Frank's journal and used color for more impact in delivering the overall message. This was a very quick turn around in order to make the deadline for the client, but it was a real pleasure to work with them and hope we can create more books for them in the near future. We wish them great success in their fundraising efforts.

Today, we completed a new book design for one of our clients. The book is going to be a surprise gift to my client's girlfriend on their upcoming vacation. He plans to propose to her and wanted to put together a book commemorating special moments in their life and of course ending the book with a marriage proposal.

My client knew exactly what he wanted to say and even had selected a majority of the images before the book production began. We worked with our client to find additional images and put together a beautiful book that I am sure his soon-to-be fiancé will greatly appreciate. Our congratulations and best wishes to them both.

Hau`oli la Hanau!
That's Hawaiian for Happy Birthday.....Picturia Press is pleased to have just finished publishing another new book this weekend that was very fun to design. My client recently had a wonderful Luau themed 40th birthday party in San Francisco. She had many pictures taken of the event from her own collection and from others who were at the party.

We sorted through quite a few images and managed to work with the client to capture the "essence" of her party. Which was all about fun and friends. We hope she enjoys the book as much as we enjoyed making it.

It's been some time since I've posted on the blog. But that's not because there aren't any books being published! In fact, quite the opposite! The most recent book published is "Enduring Impact". This was a book we created for Mr. Michael Dunn, the CEO of Prophet, a San Francisco based branding agency.

Michael is celebrating his 10 year anniversary at the company and his associates collected anecdotes, letters, quotes and pictures to put together this book. A very big book I might add, weighing in at a whopping 58 pages!! Seems like he is very well loved and respected. Hope he enjoys the book as much as we did making it for him. Congratulations Michael Dunn.

The most challenging (and rewarding) part of this project was that there was very little imagery and a great deal of text. Taking this into account, we used plenty of typography and color to make the book more engaging and visual.

Designing a book for a personal event, other than a wedding can be a bit tricky. For instance, I don't know the characters (and I do mean characters) in this book, "THE MANSION". So ....what if I just happen to put a picture of Joe on the same page as Jim, and they don't particularly care for each other? Or what if I put pictures together that are out of relative time sequence?

It's always a risk when you are designing this type of book. You want the sequence right, you want the message and the feel to mirror what occurs at the event. That's not easy when you weren't there.

This is where the client can do their homework and come prepared for the process. Usually, I ask clients to put groupings together in folders. For example, in a wedding you would create "Getting Ready" Folder, "The Ceremony", "The Reception", etc. etc. This will always speed up the process and help the designer navigate through hundreds of images. Good news about this book was I only had to switch up a few pages and the client was pleased as....party punch.

Aah, Viva Las Vegas. One of my all time favorite places to visit, well... only if it's a short trip; too long spells trouble. Unfortunately, this was a work project and not an actual trip. That's the bad news. The good news is I' had a real photographer shooting the images on this project. Thank goodness for our mutual friend Colin Vincent. He just happened to catch the most amazing shots and I can't tell you how much easier that makes my life.

This is one of the first books I did for a friend and I really got off relatively easy. I knew the people in the pictures, the "back story" to the event and I had creative license to design what I thought would look great.

Even if I do say so myself, quite proud of this one. And I can safely say that so did the client. So-o-o much better that sticking those pictures in a box under the bed, or filling up your hard drive, wouldn't you say?
